DECEMBER WRAP UP Part One

🎅🎄December Wrap Up!!!🎄🎅

Part One

Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow

by Jessica Townsend

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a way to start the month out reading!!!!!  I started reading the Nevermoor series in October and fell head over heels for it.  To say I was ecstatic to pick up this next book would be an understatement.  Have I already ordered the third book?  Uhhhhh yaaaaaa!!!!!!  And it's just sitting on my bookshelf looking all pretty and begging me to read it..... 💗💗💗  So back to Wundersmith... 😉  In this second installment things are, for real, going down.  It's Morrigan's first week of being in the Wundrous Society, and it's not going the way she thought it would.  A family she could be herself around, friends she could count on, a school where you can learn to harness your talents, a place where she can belong..  All things that were promised her when she entered. But, unfortunately, that's not what she finds.  Her Unit she was assigned to don't trust her.  They all know her secret and they aren't too keen on having her around.  When they all start getting mysterious messages that threaten to reveal her secret they must do as their assailants demand in order to keep it under wraps or risk expulsion from the Society.  Mix that in with the mysterious disappearances that keep happening of Society members, and the fact that Jupiter, Morrigan's mentor for everything Wundrous Society, is continually gone right when he's needed most makes for one heck of a school year...  Yes, Hollowpox, don't worry. Imma get to you reeeeeeal soon.

The Christmas Clock

by Kat Martin

⭐⭐⭐

The Christmas Clock was just a light read that I was hoping would have ultra Christmas vibes.  It didn't.  It was cute in a way... but not one I would encourage others to pick up, and not one I would pick up again.  I read it, it's over, never going to remember it again.  Unfortunately, it just wasn't memorable.  This story takes place in the small town of Dreyerville.  It centers around an eight year old boy named Teddy, who just wants to buy the clock that's in the window of an old antique store for his grandma for Christmas.  Little does he know that his grandma, Lottie, is deteriorating quickly.  She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  Lottie is desperate to find a home for Teddy and fast.  Meanwhile, we follow Sylvia and Joe who used to be high school sweethearts, but right before they were set to get married Sylvia disappears off to Chicago with no warning.  Now coming back to her home town for the first time in years she is confronted with her feelings for Joe.  Will they be able to mend what was broken?  Will Sylvia be able to tell her secret she's been hiding for so long?  And will Teddy be able to find a home before social services takes him away?  It was a cute story.  But it was short, un-Christmas-y, and not one I will be dying to pick up again.

The Tournament at Gorlan

by John Flanagan

I can't get enough of these characters! I seriously love every book I pick up by John Flanagan.  His plots may be predictable and the story line about the same in each book, but I just fall right into the story every time. Once I catch up with all his works I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.  Maybe start re-reading? 😁  The Tournament at Gorlan is a prequel to the Ranger's Apprentice series.  It follows Halt and Crowley as they travel around Araluen searching out the King's Rangers who are being kicked out of their position by Morgarath.  From there they are determined to band together with them to overthrow Morgarath, who is trying to take over the throne by holding the king hostage, and also making his son, the prince, look like he's starting turmoil among the land.  The same amount of coffee drinking, witty banter, sarcasm, and awesome action scenes made this another enjoyable read and I, like with most of my book series, can't wait to pick up the next one!
