I gave this book three stars because I'm kind of in the middle of the road about it.  I didn't love it.  I didn't hate it.  It was just ok for me.  The first book, The Thief, was such a fun adventure and this second one felt like a totally different book entirely.  The first half of the book was just about Gen moping around, (which is understandable given the circumstances...) but I got a little bored with it.  Then we get into the wars between the kingdoms and I felt like we were only being given the facts, and I just wasn't able to be as immersed in the story.  It started picking up a little after that but not enough for me to give it that extra star.  Also... That ending?  With the romance thing?  Did not even see that coming...  My feelings on that are a little iffy to say the least. 😬  Overall, not super impressed but I do want to continue on and see if this story gets better.

The fact that I've given every single one of these books a five star rating has to show how much I love these books.  Every time I pick one up I absolutely devour it.  The writing, the characters, the love triangle, the plot, the setting.  EVERYTHING.  I'm here for it.  I'm also extremely worried for my 'ship...  I need to order the next book.  Like NOW...  Urgh.  It's hard not to go into spoilers this far into the series but just know that these books keep getting better and better as I progress through them.  Why I haven't just binged the rest of the series I'll never know.

Joiner This continuation of the Scott McCully Espionage Adventure series was a wild ride!  About halfway through I couldn't put the book down and finished the last half in a day.  This book was action packed and full of suspense.  There were quite a few times that my heart was racing and I just had to know what happened next.  Definitely need to get book #4 soon! My only problem with this series would be the amount of grammatical errors in it.  It could get a little distracting.  Would I recommend this series though?  Absolutely!  Do I think Winston is one of the most obnoxious and annoying characters I've ever read about?  100%.............. The Emperor of Nihon-Ja

Rangers Apprentice The Emperor of Nihon-Ja by John Flanagan Once again the Ranger's Apprentice series has sucked me in and I can't put it down.  These characters are all so lovable and I just have to know what happens to them!  The banter back and forth between them is just great.  I laugh out loud every time.  Are these books suuuuper predictable?  Yes, but I still have a wonderful time reading them.  The action scenes are cool and I think John Flanagan does an excellent job of not letting it get too cheesy.  This tenth book is a fantastic continuation of the series with all my favorite characters joining together to overcome a powerful force that wants to bring down a good and kind emperor.  Action, adventure, romance, friendship.  This book has it all and I'm so happy there are still more books for me to be able to dive back into this world.  I will say that this book did drag a little towards the middle section but once I hit the 3/4 mark it picked up and I couldn'

A Light in the Window by Jan Karon   This book felt like coming home.  After reading the first book last year I haven't been able to get these characters off my mind.  This series makes me wish Mitford was a real town with real people where I could go and live out the rest of my life in coziness with flower gardens, all the coffee and comfort food you could ever need, and good friends that know you aren't perfect but will love and pray for you regardless. ' "Feller in here last week squawked to me about th' coffee, said it was s' weak he had t' help it out of the pot. That," he concluded, darkly, "was a Yankee lie." '  Some of the conversations and antics that happened made me laugh out loud, but then there were the serious moments in this book that had my heart racing and had the tears about to fall.
